At Maroondah City Church our local mission includes reaching out to the community agencies and organisations.

On September 18 we hosted our annual Maroondah Agency Lunch. It was an absolute thrill to spoil staff of local agencies, hospital and emergency services to an extravagant and scrumptious lunch. The church also donated many toys for the workers to distribute to their clients who include many disadvantaged families. Professionals and volunteers from community agencies and services work tirelessly to provide practical care to families, and we wanted to show that we recognize the importance of their work, and to support them with the resources that we had available.

Last Christmas we also held our inaugural Christmas Lunch for the community, where we had games and other attractions including a very popular visit from South Warrandyte Fire Brigade. Children received beautiful new toys, bikes, and other presents, and families enjoyed lunch together after a creative and fun Christmas Service.

In past years we have combined various skills, resources and volunteer time to host the New Friends Lunch. Each time, we hosted around 60 single parents from the community, along with some married couples and over 100 children. The parents were treated to a scrumptious three course lunch and given the break they deserve, while their children enjoyed heaps of fun activities including a jumping castle, horse rides, games, a BBQ, ice cream, face painting, presents, and much more.
